6/26 - Sneak Peek: The Redesigned $5 Bill!

So here's a look at the new, redesigned $5 bill...

Apparently the US Treasury struck a deal with service stations so you can just hand 'ol Abe right over for one whole gallon of gas.  Nice they've made it so easy for us, isn't it?  Just to put things in perspective, Sue found an old gas receipt from a little over 4 years ago, and the price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline then, in 2004, was a whopping $1.79.  My car's tank is roughly 12.5 gallons.  A fill-up then cost me $21.48.  Today, it runs me about $47.  Since I go through about 4 tanks a month, I'm now spending about $191 a month on gas.  Four years ago? I was spending about $85.  That's a difference of over $100 a month!  And my car gets around 33 miles to the gallon!   Sheesh.  Here's the thing that gets me, though: What on earth was I doing with all that extra money back then... and, how are all of us going to continue to afford things as they keep increasing?
