8/7 - Why I'm Looking Forward To The Olympics

The Beijing Olympics are set to start this Friday, and while I do always enjoy the smugness of Bob Costas, I don't really get into the Summer Games as much as the Winter Games. There's too much athleticism involved for my taste. I mean, those sprinters are really in shape. REALLY. I can't relate to that as much as I can the winter athletes dressed in snowsuits and luging (is that even a word?) down the track. (Please, before you send the complaint e-mails, I DO realize they're ALL highly trained, highly dedicated athletes doing their best to represent the U-S of A-- and, yes, they're all WAY more in shape than me...) But I might have to tune in to NBC's 26-million hours of broadcasts to check these athelete out:
Whoa, Nelly! These two highly-trained athletes are Bia and Branca Feres of Brazil's Synchronized Swimming Team. Really. They're athletes. I swear! Here's a more Olympic-like shot of the twins...
Looks like we'll be setting the DVR at the palacial St. John/Kelly estate to take in most of the Synchronized Swimming events. Maybe these summer games won't be so bad after all...
