Ah, yes. It all began at behind the condenser microphone of a cassette tape recorder-- a birthday present my parents gave me back in the mid 70's. You mean, I can TALK into this thing, I thought, and people will listen to me? Okay, back then, it was only my PARENTS who were forced into listening to me, not the tens of listeners we have now on the Morning I-Opener, but still-- I was hooked. And thus began my long sojourn into broadcasting.
My hometown is Wausau-- Rothschild, actually. Graduated from DC Everest High School in '88, and from UWEC in '92. Yes, they actually gave me a degree. Spent a year back home working as a morning news guy on an Oldies station. The pressure of actually having to be CREDIBLE proved to be too much, and I migrated back west to the Chippewa Valley.
Did a few years on our country sister station, lost the cowboy boots eleven years ago and moved over to Today's I-94, originally in the afternoon. In 1998, station management, have few other options, moved me to mornings. I've been here ever since. And I gotta say, it beats WORKING for a living! I really do love my job. Even though I have to get up at 3:45, I can't wait to get to work each day. And, I'm honored to have the chance to talk to you every morning.
I've just been told I need to include some "personal stuff". Okay, yes, Sue and I really are married. Three years this June. We live northeast of Chippewa Falls, near Lake Wissota with our band of 3 dogs, 3 cats, and bearded dragon, Harley. It's a full house, alright. Between hiking with the dogs, reading a Nelson DeMille mystery, hopping on the mountain bike or watching either the History or Discovery Channel or The Late Show With David Letterman, I've hardly got time to fall asleep on the couch!
Another passion of mine: Sports. And wings. I've been known to down several platters of 'em while watching the some Brewers baseball or Packers or Badgers football. I've even journeyed twice while on a baseball tour to the holy grail of wings: Frank and Theresa's Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY-- home of the ORIGINAL Buffalo wings.
Is anybody STILL reading this way down here? Anyway, that's me in a nutshell. Thanks for checking out the bio. There will be a quiz on this material at the end of the website. See ya on the radio! |
